Microsoft Announces Windows Phone 8

As expected Microsoft was going to make a big announcement this week, the software backbone has announced the next generation mobile operation system and will be known as the Windows Phone 8.

So lets start with its features. Windows 8 will now support phones with Dual core and Quad core processors, theoretically up to 64 cores. Windows 8 support 3 new screen resolutions WVGA 800 × 480 pixels, WXVGA 1280×768 and True 720p 1280×720 HD. Windows 8 Smartphone will support microSD for external memory up to 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. In Windows 8, the unreleased Internet Explorer 10 will have similar coding to the desktop version which allows users to take the advantage of the robust desktop security features. Microsoft joining hands with Nokia Maps is a part of Window phone 8 which will provide more detailed maps and turn by turn directions.

The Windows Phone 8 is a new generation operating system, but sadly the current Windows 7.5 phone users will not be able to directly get the Windows 8 update, however Microsoft plans to keep them happy by releasing a the windows 7.8 similar user interface like Windows Phone 8,  Microsoft also announced that the  Windows Phone Marketplace hit 100,000 apps which possibly could an record for them. Nokia, Samsung, Huawei and HTC will be some of the first smartphones to have this new Mobile OS.
